#64 - Dangerously Quixotic

Oh my God, I just smelled you.
Suddenly and without warning.
And now my quest is to pursue-
I simply cannot wait ‘till morning.

This presents itself as difficult.
What with things so strewn about.
But whatever may be the result-
I must eschew any doubt.
(I refuse to lose this bout.)

I search animally, and spring-
fighting diligently past the throes.
For something, nay anything-
in which I might bury my eager nose.

I feel I am getting closer now-
my senses sharpened keen.
My hands become a primitive plow-
I’ve transformed into a machine.
(Now nothing will come between.)

I think I’ve found the source-
this needle amongst the straw.
And put it on a facely course-
where I take a healthy draw.

The effect is near narcotic-
knowing part of you is here.
And although it is quixotic-
it’s like you are so near.
(And I wish you were, my dear.)

But with the rush now dissipated-
I am reduced to a spent heap.
I look to the previously anticipated-
A hearty night of sleep.

Having completed my mission,
I can now turn off the light.
Where I dream, per your permission-
of you, in my arms tight.
(You were here in spirit that night.)
