#24 – That’s Okay (You Can Do That)
I roll down the street-
strumming the air.
Singin’ with my 4-piece-
and nevermind the stares.
I see you walking past-
and toss you a sign.
But you keep on strolling-
you pay me no mind.
But that’s okay-
That’s okay-
You can do that.
If you really want to-
Won’t hold it against you.
Said that’s okay-
that’s okay-
you can do that.
Just won’t waste the energy-
bein’ who you want me to be.
Cuz it just ain’t true-
I’m me- not you.
And I won’t be your mime,
I’ll speak my mind
…and that’s what you fear most.
I feel the rhythm-
dance alone in the halls.
You maintain your stare-
glance occasionally at the wall.
I say your name-
and see you pause.
But suddenly I’m a stranger-
as if I’ve broken the law.
But that’s okay-
that’s okay-
you can do that.
Go and be like that-
change at the drop of a hat.
Said that’s okay-
that’s okay-
you can do that.
It’s such a shame to see-
that you don’t know me…
But that’s all good-
and it’s understood.
I’m not your puppet,
and soon you’ll know it
…and to that fact, I’ll toast.
