#20 - Eyes
I wish you could see my eyes right now-
as they long to see you so.
Sparkle at the thought of us,
Sigh as deeply after such-
And when my heart swells, they too grow.
Yet my voice- just ones and zeroes,
and my tone, but barely heard-
in all my grammatical expertise,
these commas, dashes- and ellipses…
at least attempt to convey the words.
But all these technological advances,
don’t do a damn thing for all these glances.
The ones I wish were reaching you-
to view the truths in what I do.
No mind. (Who needs one when it comes to you?)
I’ll pick you up and spin you around,
long before it’s done for me.
Kiss you sweetly,
oh so discreetly-
and after that you’ll really see.
For when you’re here, face-to-face,
I’ll let them say it all-
Articulate all these things,
that your arrival soon will bring,
and leave our lips to recall.
That day, you know when-
Where time was up, and you gave in.
And I knew as I held the door-
that I’d be seeing those gorgeous eyes once more.
Yes, those. (The ones that I adore.)
