DiscomBOBulated PREMIERE!!

It’s Here!

It’s finally here!
No words, just watch!

So, there it is. I personally loved it. Not just because I was in it and got to help brainstorm some of the gags and shots, along with everyone else. I just loved making the movie and being able to brand something with my friends. Very fulfilling.

We’re talking about building an OMGFilms.com site where we can put up DiscomBOBulated, FullCircle, Bad Day and everything else in between. I am totally behind this idea, and I can’t wait to throw some weight behind it.

More projects please! Long or short,

I’m game!

(Oh yeah, we have DVD’s too, for those interested. It will have the movie, the trailer, the teaser— AND a sweet outtakes reel, a wicked funny gag reel, and our one deleted scene. No case, but if you have a spare, we’re planning to put up DiscomBOBulated DVD case sleeves up for download and print on our sites.)*

Let us know what you thought about DiscomBOBulated!

~LX is so happy to finally have DiscomBOBulated out. But… what’s next for the OMG crew!? Hmmm…

The Feeble Cry of a Dying Wallet In The Distance

(Welcome to the longest post on this site. Markup on this was a WHORE, so you better appreciate it. :p )

Just like last year, I’m confident that Hollywood and Silicon Valley are tag-teaming to unleash some intricate… 3D Dudley Death Drop on my poor unknowing ass. My bank account is bracing for impact already. I pray for the well-being of my grades. I wonder if I’ll even make it to classes.

An absolute smorgasbord of amazing stuff on the horizon. Games, movies, a few albums that I know of too. And just so you can know what I mean, I’ve compiled a list of all the things I personally am looking forward to through the end of this year. Just seeing them all together is creating some mild vacuum-vortex in my wallet as I speak. (I want to say, good thing there’s nothing in there, but I know it’s not. :( )

Anyhow, here’s a (edit: big fucking) list. I’ve tried to restrict my embedding to trailers/videos you might not have seen for movies/games you might not know about, but in the case of a few, you’ll find I couldn’t help myself. I think most everything else has a link you can click that will take you to a video, with a couple exceptions.

FEAST!
(Legend: Pink = games. Green = movies. Blue = music. Love = you. <3 )

*pant pant pant* And that’s just MY list. There’s more than that. Way more. Some delays have already been made, but none of those games are on my list. I’m sure more will come, once everyone sees how shoulder-to-shoulder this holiday season is becoming— just like last year.

Tentatively, Ghostbusters & Brutal Legend are still supposed to come out this year. They have been unceremoniously scrapped from Activision/Blizzard’s software lineup by “quality control” team… who suspiciously kept the Spyro and Crash Bandicoot games.

So much for innovation and originality, right? I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I think Activision/Blizzard is becoming the new EA, and EA and their wonderfully chameleon-like logo (which to me is supposed to illicit a newfound “respect for each and every title” ethos) is slowly becoming more like an Ubisoft in my mind. While Activlizzard is busy making heads roll and clumsily trying to fit into it’s new shoes, EA is ushering in new IP’s like Dead Space and Mirror’s Edge (I know, WTF? EA!?), fostering new poster-children of the industry like Spore, Rock Band and Mass Effect, and lending hands to people like Valve to physically publish Steam titles like the killer Orange Box or the upcoming Left 4 Dead.

I certainly hope that continues- the industry could definitely use more of that.

Then again, at the end of my little rant, you could just say- “Alex, you only say that shit because you love, love, love Ghostbusters and Tim Schafer; and you hate, hate HATE fucking World of Warcraft and the recent bastardization of Guitar Hero.

And you’d be right, too.

Furthermore, in terms of disappointment— only TWO Nintendo titles, and only ONE of them BY Nintendo. And BOTH of them for the DS. What the fuck, guys. Kind of dropped the ball there… a lot. And I’m a freaking die-hard Nintendo kid. Beyond that— NOTHING in terms of salivatingly rad PSP games this year-end either.

I can only HOPE it’s because both the DS and the PSP are going to be looking at upgrades/redesigns soon.

And lastly- in terms of expectations. Too Human is in a precarious position. I think most people will rightly find enough odd/wrong about it to not be able to outright love it, but also enjoy it enough not to condemn it. I guess we’ll see. The new things excite me, the movies all entice me. We all know I have a torrid love affair for all things Saw.

I am very much excited for Dead Space & Mirror’s Edge. I hope I can secure my panties enough to actually play it through without exhausting the entirety of my underwear drawer, and Mirror’s Edge finally answers a long-awaited call for the reward of non-lethality. I can’t wait to No Bullet clear that game.

My rabidness for Spore has waned since my first reading about, but you cannot doubt the behemoth, and the ripples it’s impending footsteps are making with procedural animations and insane amount of user-created content— and it’s not even on the scene yet. On the flip-side, I am weary of Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts N’ Bolts, but if it’s truly the mix of classic platforming with Garry’s Mod style tinkering (with the more instantaneous task & goal reward system that a “game” like that desperately needs)… then I think I could see myself fawning over it and Rare once again.

I’m not holding my breath though.

The new Prince of Persia looks incredible, I hope it will finally and ultimately wash the foul taste of Warrior Within’s Godsmack EXTREEM-ness from my mouth. I am incredibly excited for the Fallout 3 reboot on the big-budget side of the spectrum, meanwhile I can’t wait to get my hand on indie-production time-puzzler Braid. That, and to be finally formally introduced into the Bionic Commando games via Rearmed, as I have never indulged in the previous legendary titles.

Oh yeah, Mega Man 9 is coming out in September as well, but I have never been one for the classic series. Always been more fond of the X series, and it’s later-generation off-spring: Mega Man Zero and Mega Man ZX. (EXE, Battle Network and Star Force, get the fuck back in your cages or you get the hose again!)

Everything marked with a 2 looks adequate enough. Safe, perhaps. I’d honestly rather give up Fable II or Gears of War 2 for Brutal Legend and Ghostbusters this year. But that’s just me.

Oh yeah, fuck you one last time, Blizzivision. Ugh.

~LX doesn’t know what the fuck a “Playstation 3” is at this point… unless you’re talking about Little Big Planet, God of War 3 or Ratchet & Clank. Sucks about Final Fantasy XII, by the way.

DiscomBOBulated Teaser & Trailer

Everyone may have already seen these on other sites, which is fine. But for the precious few of you who haven’t— here you are. The first is a wicked, wicked teaser trailer made by our animator extraordinaire, Chris.

Awesomely enough, the trailer following it is also cut by Chris, cobbled together from precious few clips from the final cut…

…which is done. Sitting there… to be released… after we do end credits. :(

Believe me.

No one wants for this movie to be out in the wild more than me.

~LX is back to waiting…

DiscomBOBulated.

So, we’ve got another project coming. It’s in the editing room currently, and it should be out soon. It’s pretty epic, at least by our standards. More epic than Bad Day. More epic than Full Circle. Most definitely our most ambitious project to date, and… inside info— It’s Freaking Awesome.

So, I’ve thrown together a couple of posters to promote said newest project. (In retrospect, I wish I had added in a topline that read; “From the People who brought you ‘Bad Day’ and ‘Full Circle’but they look finished to me.)

Lookit!

DiscomBOBulated -- Coming Soon DiscomBOBulated.

Think of the first one as an early teaser, and the second one as a secondary teaser poster… more details, like who is in it, etc- but no real plot/theme hints.

The second poster exemplifies the difficult process that comes with trying to brainstorm a smart title for the project, chock full of really horrendous ideas for titles, and some that just missed the mark. The tagline references this, but also is a small, but clever nod to a theme in the project, which you’ll figure out soon. :p

Expect another one with a date to coincide with the actual web release of the project. I can’t wait to show it to you guys.

That also brings up another interesting point. I want to make movie posters for the rest of my life. I don’t know what it is about it, but I fucking LOVE making posters. I think I would be pretty content for the rest of my days if I could make theatrical one-sheets for Hollywood movies or Big-budget games. Hell, even indie stuff.

If you want posters made, talk to me.

I might just be your man.

~LX may be shifting into a yellow phase, but I doubt it.

Foreign Loves in a Foreign Land

I am on my… I believe, 37th Starbucks trip since this journey began. The sweet aroma of coffee and pretentiousness floods my olfactory like a familiar elixir. Nothing new, but still welcome.

What is new, however, is the sound I am experiencing. As I walk in there is a beautiful young dame speaking another young woman.

Lovely.

She is tall, blonde, with soft features. I doubt that pictures will do her justice, but I steal myself to try anyways. I lift my phone shoulder high, miming as if to get some light from the shadowy outdoors, or scrutinize some detailed writing. These are both lies. (click) My crime is forgettable in comparison to hers- tempting me so.

Her French is lightning fast to my ears, and a good number of decibels above the chatter amongst the rest of the java addicts. Her accent, a love song long forgotten in a tongue now unfamiliar, ringing truer with every syllable.

A torrent of words scintillate the air; spinning. Dancing, lilting lightly; twirling romantically, pervasively with the scent of coffee that tests the boundaries of the walls. The two make love.

She speaks with a fervor that matches the temperature of the drink I am holding. She may be tutoring her, as she pokes repeatedly at a list between the two of them. Perhaps, a list of all the reasons I am falling for her. Correction:

Fallen.

I have fallen in love… for the 258th time on this excursion.

“Now then,” I think- holding tight my cup of sweet brown ambrosia.

“Where is Miss 259?”

~LX needs time to import some of these women to Savannah, where stock is painfully low.
